Mahabaleshwar, Pratapgad Part 4/4

The trip to Mahabaleshwar is incomplete, without a visit to Mapro Garden, at least that is what, we are made to believe. This garden is actually near Panchagani. It is a well maintained garden and there are strawberry fields, just behind the garden. The garden has a restaurant, which serves limited choice of dishes, like sandwiches, thick shakes and obviously strawberry cream. I found them to be highly priced, even compared to Mahabaleshwar. This garden has a shop for Mapro products, where they are available at discounted rates. Sampling of the products is also available.
Overall my trip to Mahabaleshwar was good. It is still well maintained and clean hill station. It is advisable to hire a local taxi and request the driver to take you around. The rates are fixed for the season, and they are quiet reasonable. The drivers are well experienced and do plan your trip well. They would be flexible for time and will not hurry. I met Mr. Anant Parthe there and would recommend him to anyone, who is interested to visit these places..
These are some flowers, I clicked at Mapro Garden.

Mahabaleshwar, Pratapgad Part 3/4

In Mahabaleshwar, apart from the various points, I also visited lingmala water falls.

There is a good pathway to a spot from where you can get a very good view of the three stages of the waterfall. But the problem is that, it is still not a full frontal view.  You can also see the small pond, which is the source of the waterfall. (It is not advisable to enter the pond though) The pathway for the waterfall goes horizontally on the mountain; instead if it was designed to slowly descent into the valley, one would have got a closer view of the waterfall.

Nonetheless, I am not dissatisfied with the present arrangements !

Mahabaleshwar, Pratapgad Part 2/4

The Pratapgad fort is still in good condition and the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, can be seen (with the help of binoculars) from Mahabaleshwar & Panchagani. There are steps till the top and it is not so difficult climb. There are many shops selling local goodies.

Mahabaleshwar, Pratapgad Part 1/4

Mahabaleshwar, Pratapgad

It was way back in 1973, I had visited these places. It was my school picnic.

It took 44 years for me to revisit these places. I was very happy to be there

again. The beauty of Mahabaleshwar is unspoiled. It is kept very clean and

definitely much better than Darjeeling. It is easily assessable from Mumbai

& Pune and the condition of the road is very good.

This time (December) of the year is the season of strawberries. You can

eat them as much as you could. This will be followed by season of Mullberries.

I am presenting the photographs; I clicked  there, in 4 parts.
