Botanical Garden, Victoria, Seychelles Part 5/5

There is a corner for spice trees which can be grown here. There is good collection or orchids also. There is a café, which is open throughout the day.

You can happily spend two to three hours here. As this garden is near to my home, I do visit it as often as I could, and always discover something new.

The walkways in this garden are romantic. Though you are just 5 minutes away from a town, these walkways give you a feeling of being in deep forest. It is always calm and peaceful here.. let me take you thru it.. in this part.

Botanical Garden, Victoria, Seychelles Part 2/5

It is said that the coco de mer tree, grows only in Seychelles. The male and female trees are different. The fruit contains largest nut and may weigh up to 18 kgs. It takes many years for the tree to fruit and the fruit itself takes many years to ripen.

It is available in the market as souvenir ( at a hefty price ) and government licence is required to take the fruit outside the country.

Botanical Garden, Victoria, Seychelles Part 1/5

I have a passion for Botanical Gardens. I have been to many such gardens and every time I visit one, I just get lost there.
There is one beautifully designed and well maintained garden, in Victoria, (Mahe, Seychelles). This garden of course has the pride of Seychelles, that is coco de mer.
It also has many other beautiful trees. It has got some open spaces and one would just spend hours there, doing nothing. There is also a shade there, where I could chat with my friends for hours.
The garden is open from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. every day. Tourists are charged Seychelles Rupees 100 per person but the residents can enter, free of charge. There is a tortoise spot and also a café inside. This garden, would never be crowded and you can always find a private spot, all for yourself.
Here I am presenting some snaps of this garden… though I am saying some, they are well over 100, hence I will post them in 5 parts.
