Pickled drumsticks

 

Ingredients

 

What you need :-

–        1) 3 Drumsticks,

–        2) 2 Tablespoon oil,

–        3) 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds,

–        4) 1 tablespoon mustard seeds,

–        5) 1 teaspoon asafoetida,

–        6) 1 teaspoon turmeric powder,

–        7) 1 teaspoon red chili powder,

–        8) 1 tablespoon sugar,

–        9) half cup vinegar,

–        10) salt to taste,

 

 

Directions

To make the pickle,

  • – 1) Peel the drumsticks and cut into 1 inch pieces.

  • – 2) Heat the oil in pan and fry the fenugreek seeds, till then turn golden.
  • – 3) Then add the mustard seeds and when they are done, add asafoetida, turmeric and drumstick pieces.
  • – 4) Fry the drumstick pieces. till they turn golden brown.
  • – 5) Then add red chili powder, salt and pour the vinegar.
  • – 6) Let them cook well in vinegar (about 5 minutes).
  • – 7) Then add sugar, and cook till the oil separates.
  • – 8) Turn off the heat and let the pickle cool.

This pickle can be eaten fresh or can be kept to mature for 8 to 10 days.  The drumsticks will soften after 5/6 days.

 

Adding sugar will neutralise the taste and smell of vinegar. You can replace vinegar with tamarind pulp and you can replace sugar with gur.
