White radish curry

 

 

Ingredients

The ingredients are :

  • – 1) 3 to 4 white radish with leaves,
  • – 2) ½ cup tuvar daal,
  • – 3) 2 to 3 green chilies ,
  • – 4) 2 to 3 red chilies,
  • – 5) 6 to 7 garlic pods,
  • – 6) 1 teaspoon turmeric powder,
  • – 7) 1 teaspoon asafetida,
  • – 8) 1 teaspoon mustard seeds,
  • – 9) 3 tablespoon oil,
  • – 10) salt to taste.

 

Directions

To proceed :

  • – 1) Wash and soak the daal in some water, add turmeric and asafetida to it and keep aside.
  • – 2) Discard the hard stems of the radish leaves and finely chop the leaves and tender stems.
  • – 3) Chop the radish and keep separately.

  • – 4) Chop the chilies and garlic pods too.
  • – 5) Heat 1 tablespoon oil in pressure cooker and fry green chilies and then add the radish leaves.
  • – 6) Fry the leaves till almost dry and then add the chopped radish and soaked daal.
  • – 7) Add salt and when the mixture comes to boil close the lid, and pressure cook for 5 minutes.
  • – 8) Put off the fire and when the pressure drops, open the lid and mash the leaves a little.
  • – 9) In a separate pan heat remaining oil and fry the mustard seeds, red chilies and garlic. Add this to the cooked mixture.

This curry tastes great with roti or rice.
