Rani Baug is the unofficial but most popular name of the zoo in heart of Mumbai. The official name was Queen Victoria Gardens and now Veermata Jijabai Udyan.
From my childhood this was my favorite place. At that time the various animal there was the main attraction. ( It had a boat ride too. ) Later when I started reading about rare trees, I came to know that this place has a collection of rare trees, some of which are not found anywhere else in the city and some are so rare that they can not be easily found in wild also, now.
I wrote about many of the trees on net, hence I thought of revisiting the place. I did find most of them there, but I am sorry to say, some of the trees have vanished now. Lots of renovation work is going on there, but I sincerely hope that my friends remain unharmed.
This is not the flowering season in this part of the world, but still, I am sharing, what I could see there.
